Replacing a laptop battery<\/a> is a common task, but it doesn\u2019t always go to plan. Sometimes, <\/span>technical issues appear as soon as you install the new battery<\/b>. Here is a guide to the <\/span>most common problems<\/b> and the simple solutions you can try.<\/span><\/p>\n

The laptop won\u2019t turn on with the new battery<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A new battery is often empty when delivered<\/span><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s quite normal to receive a completely discharged battery for safety reasons. If your laptop <\/span>doesn\u2019t respond after you insert the new battery<\/b>, don\u2019t panic straight away.<\/span><\/p>\n

First, plug in the mains charger for a few minutes. The power will <\/span>start the battery charging<\/b>, and the laptop should then power on as normal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The battery doesn\u2019t seem to charge<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A charging issue at the first connection<\/span><\/h3>\n

During the first charge, the following can happen:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • The battery indicator <\/span>jumps from 0 to 100% in a few seconds<\/b>
    \n<\/b><\/li>\n
  • Or the laptop <\/span>refuses to charge the battery<\/b> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This behaviour is <\/span>quite common during the initial synchronisation<\/b> between the battery and the system. To fix it:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Shut the laptop down<\/span>
      \n<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Remove the battery<\/span>
      \n<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Wait for one to two minutes<\/span>
      \n<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Refit the battery and plug the power supply back in<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      This process often <\/span>resets the charging detection<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
