If the battery in your powerful Acer Predator Helios 300 G3 571 is starting to weaken, don’t panic. This guide shows you that you can handle the replacement yourself. It’s a simple DIY (Do It Yourself) project because the battery is easy to access.
We’ll walk you through the process step by step to help you do the job in complete safety. We’ll pay particular attention to fragile parts, especially the hard drive.
Preparation: making your workspace safe
Safety always comes first. Take a moment to set up your workspace to avoid any accidents.
1. Tools you’ll need
To make sure the replacement goes smoothly, gather the following items:
- A new compatible battery.
- A suitable screwdriver.
- Tools to lift the casing (a guitar pick or a card).
- Essential reminder: Only use plastic tools to avoid scratching the laptop’s casing.
2. Safety rules to follow
These instructions are mandatory for your protection and for your laptop.
- Check it’s fully shut down: The laptop must be completely turned off (make sure you actually clicked Shut down).
- No external power: The laptop must be unplugged from the charger and from the wall socket.
- Electrical warning: Even when it’s off, there can still be power! Never forget that the internal battery can still be supplying power to certain areas of the casing.
- No metal objects: Never use metal tools (pliers, knives) inside the laptop to remove the battery or handle the cables. You could cause a short circuit or a cut.
Disassembly: watch out for the hard drive
Taking the laptop apart is straightforward, but you need to be careful because some internal components are attached to the back cover.
1. Removing the screws and quick‑access covers
- Unscrew the RAM access cover screws (1).
- Unscrew the hard drive cover screws (2).
- Remove these two small covers.
- Unscrew the main hard drive screws.
- Unscrew all remaining screws holding the large rear casing in place.
2. Gently separating the casing
- Use a plastic tool as a lever to carefully open the laptop by separating the casing.
- Important point: The hard drive is often fixed to the inside of the cover.
- Handling the hard drive:
- You can disconnect it completely before removing the casing.
- If you leave it connected, be extremely careful when lifting the cover so you don’t damage the cable.
Replacement: disconnect the old battery and connect the new one
The battery is now visible. Handle it with care.
1. Removing the old battery
- Carefully move the hard drive aside (if it’s still connected).
- Disconnect the battery from the motherboard. Gently pull on the plastic connector.
- Unscrew the battery fixings and remove it.
2. Fitting the new battery
- Insert the new battery into its slot.
- Carefully connect it to the motherboard.
- Secure the battery with the screws.
Reassembly: close and test the laptop
1. Refitting the casing
- Put the cover back in place and make sure the hard drive is correctly seated.
- Press around the edges to clip the casing all the way round.
- Screw all the casing screws back in.
2. Finalising the installation
- Replace the screws on the small hard drive cover (2) and the RAM cover (1).
- Plug in the charger to start the first charge cycle.
